If you want to use 12V power on an extended basis you should look into dual battery setups for your vehicle – popular in vehicles that see a lot of off-road camping use – or perhaps some sort of solar power setup.

Propane

3 way fridges are primarily designed for maximum efficiency when running on LPG gas. While Propane is the most popular choice, some fridges are also powered by Butane. Powering your camping fridge by gas is the ideal way to go if you are on a long camping trip away from grid power.
