Why Buy A 3-Way Camping Fridge

Posted by Admin as General

If you are a fan of camping, you know the benefits of having a fridge freezer to keep your supplies cold when away from civilization. One type of refrigerator that can meet these needs is the 3-way camping fridge.
A 3 way fridge is a very versatile piece of equipment, as it can be run on several different sources of power. There are mains power, the 12V car battery, and propane.

Mains Power

If your camping ground of RV Park has 240V power available, just plug in your 3 way mini fridge and chill to your hearts’ content. Cheap and almost limitless, mains power will always be your fridges go to power source. It works well for your side-by-side refrigerator at home, and works just as well when it is available on the road.

The 12V Car Battery

If you need cooling power in your car for long distance drives – or even just to have a cold drink available for your kids after sports practice – the ability to run a 3 way fridge directly from the cars starter battery is very useful. A word of caution must be included however. If you have the fridge drawing amperage from your car battery when the engine is not running, you WILL run it down in a fairly short period of time. This option is best for when your vehicle is running. If you want to use 12V power on an extended basis you should look into dual battery setups for your vehicle – popular in vehicles that see a lot of off-road camping use – or perhaps some sort of solar power setup.

Propane

3 way fridges are primarily designed for maximum efficiency when running on LPG gas. While Propane is the most popular choice, some fridges are also powered by Butane. Powering your camping fridge by gas is the ideal way to go if you are on a long camping trip away from grid power.

The flexibility of these various power options makes a 3 way camping fridge the perfect option for outdoor enthusiasts.
